Day in the Life – Restaurant General Manager – Taco Bell

Being a Restaurant General Manager at Taco Bell means stepping into the building each morning like a captain boarding her ship, except my crew is already laughing, someone is singing, and the fryer is loudly reminding us it woke up before we did.

My day is a blend of structure and chaos: coaching my team, checking food safety, making sure the restaurant looks sharp, and keeping customers happy, even when they order twelve Crunchwraps at 10am. There is a seriousness to the role. People rely on me for direction, fairness, and calm. But there is also the funny reality that half my job involves reminding everyone where they left the sanitiser bottle, and convincing them that teamwork really does make the dream work, even when the dream is simply surviving the lunch rush.

Honestly, that is what I love about it. My team is my second family: loud, dramatic, hilarious, hardworking, and more than capable of turning even the toughest shift into something we are proud of. I spend my day guiding them, supporting them, and occasionally bribing them with cinnamon twists when morale dips.

Together, we keep the restaurant running smoothly, take care of our customers, and make sure every guest leaves with good food and a better mood. It is a job full of responsibility, but also full of moments that make me laugh, shake my head, and think, “Yep, only at Taco Bell.”
